Feral Zurich Uninspires (Zurich)

11/3/05 Friday

I decided to stay in Zurich for a Friday night to see what it was like. I was going to get a room in a Lonely Planet recommended hotel called Hotel Otter that had themed rooms. The "reception" was upstairs of a pub and the door was closed. I decided to try elsewhere. I also checked out the City Backpackers hostel, and that seemed rather run down, so I headed back to Mathaus where I was the first night. That had free wireless internet (once I figured out how it worked).

I spent a fair amount of time on the internet trying to plan the rest of the trip. This place paid for itself in terms of free Internet usage.

Around 11:30am I decided to head out and see what Zurich nightlife had to offer... it sounded pretty feral from inside the hostel. I walked through the old place near where I was and it was very feral indeed. People breaking glass on the street and such. I got some food, looked around and didn't find any place that looked particularly interesting. I think most of the nightclubs were over the other side of the river. I was rather tired by this stage and headed back. Overall, Zurich was pretty boring for me. The one thing I did go off to see at the art gallery, Kunthaus, wasn't even there. I walked back to the hostel and found the poster. It was in Bregenz... see there was something I wanted to see there *sigh*. There was a Chapman brothers exhibit called, "Explaining Christians to Dinosaurs". Sounded like my kind of art... plus they had curated an ATP event before.
